Position: Sales Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains an awareness of competitor activity, developments and best practices and shares information with the team accordingly.
Takes a proactive approach to sales, anticipating potential opportunities and developing new opportunities.
Develops strategic plans for each industry sectors and detailed account development plans for each key corporate account.
Sets realistic, measurable sales standards, objectives and goals (for sales activities and revenues) to be achieved and communicates to leaders and employees.
Attends daily & weekly sales meetings and any other departmental meetings. Communicates/meets with Sales & Marketing Team and shares information as required.
Conducts appropriate number of proactive sales activities (incl. but not limited to telesales, appointments, site inspections, trade shows, fam trips, client entertaining, incl. evening entertaining) and ensures that this is recorded appropriately in Opera Sales & Catering in order to be considered for goals.
Leverages all available sales channels (e.g. CHL Regional Office, newspapers such as local newspaper, etc., websites) in an effort to optimize sales revenues.
Develops and maintains detailed knowledge of all aspects of Corinthia Hotel Khartoum in order to sell effectively and ensures that the client has accurate and adequate information in order to be able to confirm the business.
Oversees the hotel’s relevant sections of the sales database (Protel System) in alignment with designated market sectors and territories ensuring data maintenance and tracking is adhered to.
Effectively resolves guest issues that arise from the sales process and brings issues to the attention of leadership as appropriate. This includes feedback from transient business and conference, events, road shows etc.
Keeping up to date with the product and all services the hotel provides for rooms, food & beverage, Spa, meetings and private events. This is particularly important when presenting the property facilities and services offsite and when conducting hotel site inspections.
Having access to the sales capabilities of Protel PMS to pull and review account production reports.
Reviewing account production ongoing to know who is performing and who is not and addressing as necessary.
Ongoing review of competitor’s daily performance.
Though local and international news and networking, to be aware of events that an positively or negatively impact the business
Supports the hotel operation in times of demand in order to ensure client satisfaction.
Refers business opportunities from other market sectors to appropriate members of the sales team to ensure that these are actioned appropriately.
Drives the Corinthia values and philosophy.
Partners with the leadership team to understand the business needs and develops a relevant sales plan to support strategic objectives.
Trains new members of the team and supports existing members of the team on Protel PMS.
Develops close relationships with designated clients from agreed market sectors and geographical territories.
Interacts with employees, clients and guests beyond giving and receiving instructions, emphasizing relationships with supervisor, subordinates, co-workers and guests.
Builds appropriate relationships with other corporate specialists from agreed competitive set.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Minimum 3-year experience, preferably in a similar hospitality
- Strong selling / negotiations skills
- Ideally a degree in business management, hotel management, marketing or equivalent
- Good command of English is required
- Good grooming, image and professional personal style that reflects the hotel brand image is critical
- Exceptional IT skills, with a preference for knowledge of Protel PMS Sales and Catering.
- Understanding of Sudan/MENA, etc. Corporate business.
