About GIZ:
On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ is implementing the project “Food Security for Refugees and Adjacent Communities in Kassala and Gedaref states. The programme is implemented under the host agreement between the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Government of Sudan. The programme has three areas of intervention and aims at improving the livelihoods of the local population, refugees, and migrants:
1 – Improving Food Security and thereby increasing agricultural yields
2 – Improving the nutrition security through the production of vegetables
3 – Improving the supply of drinking water, sanitation and hygiene.

The GIZ Office in Khartoum is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:

1- WASH Field Officer
2- Junior Accounting Professional
3- Cleaner

1- WASH Field Officer

Location: Gedaref 

The WASH Field Officer(WFO) is reporting to the Food & Nutrition Security Advisor (FNSA)of the Food Security Programme for Refugees and Host Communities in Kassala and Gedaref.
The WFO will be based in Gedaref. The position will require regular travels within Sudan.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The WFO will assist the FNCA in the day-to-day management and implementation on a two-fold objectivewithin the WASH & Construction

Unit of the Project:
Assist on all construction- and rehabilitation-related measures regarding water supply systems and sanitary facilities
Assist to carry out capacity development activities for improved sanitation and hygiene.
S/he will ensure that activities and reporting are completed within the allocated time frame, and to the quality standards and implementation mechanism stipulated in the project proposal, logical framework and in accordance with the project work plan.

The candidate should have knowledge of the Gedaref and Kassala region in East Sudan and be willing to drive to field locations. S/he will carry out the following major tasks:

Assist to plan and implement water and sanitation activities in the field (capacity building) and ensure effective and timely completion of activities
Support technical items in the preparation of designs, cost estimates, BoQs and tender documents for all WASH infrastructure
Assist in monitoring and reporting on project activities using project management and monitoring tools
Establish close working relationships with NGOs, INGOs, host government agencies, and U.N. agencies operating in the region.
Participate in WASH needs assessment and other data collection activities

Specific Objectives & Tasks
Supervise and implement water supply and basic sanitation
Ensuring understanding of the needs of the communities on water and sanitation and coordinating with the local partners on best implementation
Works with and supervises partners, consultant, suppliers on soft aspects of the WASH component
Participate in WASH needs assessments.
Follow up installation of water tanks, latrines, centralized water systems and other water & sanitation systems at different sites
Working closely with the local partners, providing technical advice and WASH orientation.
Monitoring water quality and necessary water treatment at different water points (water tanks, wells, household, etc.).
Informing and documenting the anomalies and the repairs carried out in the water systems, and the material necessary for the program’s activities.

Training, sensitization and social mobilization
Ensure the proper conduct of technical trainings (incl. CLTS approach)
Ensure jointly with the Head of Projects the elaboration of key messages, booklets, tools and kits for trainings and promotion sessions
Support the WASH promoters during sensitization sessions and trainings
Ensure the follow-up of WASH committee activities
Ensure that population accept and implement the practices taught by the committees and the teams.

Data collection and Sensitization Methods:
Ensuring understanding and needs of the communities on water and sanitation needs and uses, and coordination WASH team on best implementation.
Data collection regarding the project and the potentials beneficiaries
Prepare and submit all WASH field reports to the WASH & Construction Advisor
Monitor and report all WASH activities in the field ensuring there is compliance with plans and GIZ standards
Monitor water and sanitation facilities acceptance and beneficiary satisfaction
Collect, organize and develop data, files and documents.

Other Activities
Any other duties/functions as deemed necessary or as delegated by the Project Manager to meet the level of the services of the organization/project.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Training/ Education:
Degree in engineering, environmental health, community development, social sciences or relevant field

Technical Specific Knowledge:
Knowledge in WASH activities, water supply and sanitation supply systems,knowledge of building regulations and standards as they apply to minor building construction and maintenance, experience in minor construction works and maintenance of a variety of buildings, infrastructure and related facilities

Previous Experience:
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in comparable positions.
Experience in community mobilization and participation.

Languages:
Fluent Arabic, very good level of English (written, reading and writing).

IT & Specific Systems:
Microsoft Office, AutoCAD is beneficial.

2- Junior Accounting Professional

Location: Gedaref 

Duties & Responsibilities:
The junior accounting professional provides support in
dealing with all questions arising in this area
timely accounting procedures according to GIZ regulations
identifying relevant problems and issues and assisting in formulating implementation-oriented solutions
further developing instruments and assisting in introducing innovation and change
managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information

The accounting junior professional performs the following tasks:

Managing the daily cash fund
The junior accounting professional is responsible for availability of cash based on the vouchers collected daily processes all daily cash payments cheques all invoices and receipts on completion and correctness processes all vouchers in the GIZ WINPACCS system according to deadline reports any surplus or shortfall in cash reports without delay if the cash holding reaches a minimum level

Internal control
The junior accounting professional is involved in drawing up the annual internal controlling schedule and reports
General services
The junior accounting professional

bills/processes overtime applications from office and project/programme staff
processes settlement of travel expenses
draws up and updates the fee schedule for (national) individual appraisers

Other Duties/Additional Tasks
The junior accounting professional
performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
follows up on receivables

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Qualifications
qualification in business administration with a focus on accounting or related area

Professional experience
Initial experience (internship or similar) in this area
Other knowledge, additional competences
basic knowledge of accounting software
good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
good knowledge of the European language widely used in the country, ideally a knowledge of German
willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management

3- Cleaner

Location: Khartoum

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Cleaner is Responsible for:
Keeping the office premises clean and tidy
Running errands and carrying out other tasks needed to run the office smoothly

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

Office Services
Cleans the premises, rooms, furniture, office equipment, carpets and windows
Checks and refills cleaning, kitchen and washroom supplies
Sets up and prepares the conference rooms and terraces as instructed
Supplies the offices with hot and cold beverages
Provides service at meetings, e.g. serves coffee and tea for guests and visitors
Reports need for refill of cleaning materials, water, coffee etc. to the responsible administrative staff
Washes the kitchen and bathroom towels on a weekly basis
Checks and refills cooking gas in the kitchen
General tasks
Runs errands
Reports damages to office areas and equipment
Performs any other duties assigned by the management

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Primary school education
At least 1-3 years working experience in a comparable position with references
Sensitivity in handling and depositing of documents which may be important
Reliability, punctuality and good organisation skills, appropriate appearance and clothing
A good spoken command of English is an additional advantage
